USA Shipping and Tariffs

What has changed?

As of August 29th 2025, the U.S. is ending its long-standing de minimis exemption of $800, meaning all international orders — regardless of value — will now face tariffs. This was part of an executive order issued by President Trump on the 30th July 2025, which eliminates the long-standing tax exemption on packages valued under $800 that previously allowed international small businesses like Little Toy Dogs to send products to the U.S. tariff-free.

All international parcels from the UK to the U.S. will now be taxed, no matter the value, no matter the postal service used.

What this means for you…

Sadly, it means an extra 10% adding to the price you pay at the checkout. Happily, I can still ship to you!

I ship from the UK with Royal Mail, who have now updated their website shipping options to include a DDP (Delivery Duty Paid) service to the U.S. Hooray! This means I can pre-pay your import tariff when I pay the postage and ship your item. The tariff payment will be shown on the customs form for trouble-free importing and customs clearance.

Royal Mail states that the current rate of import duty for my HS commodity code is 10%, plus a 50p admin charge. This 10% tariff will be added to your order at checkout in the ‘tax’ field. I’ll pay the 50p!

My international HS commodity code (95030041 - toys representing animals or non-human creatures), and full description of the contents and value will also be included on the customs form.

Thanks so much for your support - Alice
